Brief Bio:

Cat is a licensed professional counselor who transitioned to mental health after 15 years as a research scientist. They earned an M.Ed. in Clinical Professional Counseling from the University of Oklahoma (2023) and obtained their LPC licensure in 2025.

Cat's clinical training includes Internal Family Systems (IFS), grief counseling, eating disorders with a neurodivergence focus, and relational and sex therapy work through the Oklahoma Sex and Relationship Institute (including kink/BDSM-affirming therapy, attachment, and nonmonogamy).

Working from a relational and psychodynamic framework while incorporating aspects of narrative therapy, IFS, and ACT, Cat sees individuals and couples/relational systems navigating trauma, identity, neurodivergence, OCD, grief, life transitions, and mood concerns. Their integrative approach emphasizes helping clients develop trust and comfort within themselves and their relationships.

Involvements & Interests in Psychoanalysis & Psychodynamic Therapies:

My interest in psychoanalysis centers on the relational and here-and-now dimensions of therapy. I work actively with transference, defense mechanisms, and unconscious processes, using Internal Family Systems as a bridge to psychodynamic exploration. My theoretical influences include existential and feminist philosophers.

I've been told repeatedly that I work as a psychoanalytic and relational therapist, and I'm seeking involvement with OPS to deepen my understanding of why that resonates with me, to find community with others doing this work, and to develop a more grounded theoretical foundation for the intuitive psychodynamic approach I've cultivated in my practice.
